Get a mole or lesion checked with Skin Analytics

The Skin Analytics service allows you to have moles and skin lesions analysed for signs of skin cancer from the comfort of your own home.

If you are concerned about a mole or skin lesion, then please book an appointment with the Vitality GP. If the GP feels the mole/lesion needs further review, this service is one of the options they may recommend. It is only available to members who are 16 years or older*.

You can access it at no additional cost, but if you are referred onwards it will count as a claim and we will contact you to discuss your plan options.

For guidance on which moles may need to get checked out, please see the ABCDE rule from Melanoma UK.

* This service is not available to Vitality at Work members, Vitality Essentials members or members living in the Isle of Man or Channel Islands.

Next Steps

If the Vitality GP refers you to this service, you will be directed to the Skin Analytics portal. Here you will find a step-by-step guide to set up your account and provide some key information. This is so the dermatologist will have all the necessary details to assess your mole.

Once you have set up your account you will be sent a kit which includes:

  • a special lens called a dermascope

  • a clip attachment

  • a smartphone

It will be posted through your letterbox, so there is no need to sign for it. You will also be able track your delivery within the portal.

Follow the instructions within the portal on how to use the camera and lens to capture the images of the mole needed for assessment. You will need to return the kit to Skin Analytics using the prepaid envelope within 48 hours of completing your assessment.

If the Consultant Dermatologist who analyses your moles thinks you need further medical assessment and/or treatment, VitalityHealth will contact you to discuss your options based on your plan. You will also get an indication as to how urgently you need to see somebody.
